Crivello was a product manager for Uber Works at the time, and the platform had just suffered a major outage. He spent the day in a flurry of video calls trying to contain the chaos. By the time he logged off for the night, he was exhausted, alone, and felt like crying. “I realized what made that moment so painful was the absence of presence,” Crivello said. Two years later when the pandemic hit and many workers suddenly found themselves alone, exhausted, and on the edge of tears he left Uber and founded Teamflow, a company created to help remote teams feel a sense of being together with their colleagues. ....
It used to be to be a cab driver you had to know the city. in fact if you had to be a cab driver in london, you had to study for about a year and a half what is called the knowledge. once you got the knowledge, you could make a living and feed your family off of it. today, taxicabs are being pushed out by uber. the way in which uber works, a small number of incredibly hard working but incredibly privileged superskilled workers design-a gore ri algorithms and make drivers deskilled. all they do is pay the instructions on their cell phones. the drivers get paid almost nothing. the elite gets all of the income. there s no workplace training. there s no hierarchy to rise through. so, we have kind of a cast system. so what meritocracy has done, it s created a new aristocracy, only now based on schooling, rather than breeding. that might be better than the ....

Government is going to come in and work to make that less efficient is one of the reasons why americans hate politics. uber works. i was very critical and skeptical of uber before. but it works. you know, there are like if it s raining or it s 4:00 or 5:00 in new york city good luck getting a cab. you re going to walk in the rain 20, 30 blocks. that doesn t happen anymore with uber, mike. again, i find it hard to believe that anybody would try to get in the way of something that actually works. bill diblasio doesn t have to worry about cabs or uber now because he has a police escort wherever he goes. he is always late wherever he goes. doesn t matter to him, time apparently. he s late to every appearance. but come on. stay out of it! cabs versus uber. let the free market decide. and the free market is deciding especially if you point out if you re standing on a thursday or friday afternoon, any afternoon in the weekend in any city in this country and it s raining and a lot of traff ....
