BA.5, the latest highly transmissible sub-variant of the omicron variant, became the dominant variant in the hospital district of Helsinki and Uusimaa (HUS) in June, reports Helsingin Sanomat.
Tuija Leino, a chief physician at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL), told the public broadcasting company last week that the current highly transmissible variants are unlikely to cause abrupt changes in the epidemiological situation.
