Before dawn on Feb. 1, Myanmar’s military detained State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, President U Win Myint, and other officials of the government led by the National League for Democracy (NLD). Parliamentary speakers at both the Union and state and regions level were also detained during the takeover.
Senior leaders and central executive committee members of the NLD, prominent activists, writers, and monks were among about 150 arrested on the first day of the coup. ....

The Myanmar military has arrested more than 1,500 people including elected leaders, lawmakers, activists, protesters, heads of election commissions and striking civil servants involved in the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), since the Feb. 1 coup.
According to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), which tracks detentions, at least 1,507 people had been arrested, charged or sentenced by March 4. Only 307 of the detainees were released and a total of 1,200 are still being detained, the AAPP said, adding that 61 individuals face warrants and are evading arrest. ....

More than 1,200 people, including elected leaders, lawmakers, activists, protesters, heads of election commissions and striking civil servants involved in the civil disobedience movement (CDM) have been detained in Myanmar since the February 1 coup.
According to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), which tracks detentions, at least 1,213 people had been arrested, charged or sentenced by March 1. Only 300 of the detainees were released and more than 900 are still being detained, the AAPP said, adding that 61 suspects face warrants and are evading arrest. ....

A total of 220 people political prisoners have been detained since the Feb. 1 coup, including government officials, national leaders, election commissioners, political activists, monks, writers and peaceful demonstrators, according to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP).
More than half of those detained are from the National League for Democracy (NLD).
The party’s chairwoman, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, and vice-chairs, President U Win Myint and Mandalay chief minister U Zaw Myint Maung, and nearly 50 senior NLD figures, including senior members and Union ministers, are among the detainees. At least 80 party members were also taken into detention by the military in the first nine days after the coup. ....
