The former Winona Shopko was just sold for $2.25 million and is slated to become a U-Haul rental and self-storage facility, U-Haul officials announced. A temporary showroom offering rentals will open on Monday, March 8, while the company aims to finish a bigger remodel by this summer.
U-Haul’s parent company, AMERCO Real Estate, bought the nearly 85,000-square-foot former Shopko store for $2.25 million, according to state real estate transaction records. Winona County Recorder Bob Bambenek said the sale followed an online auction. The property was previously owned by a Michigan-based holding company.
