Luke Antonacci and the University of Maine men’s hockey program have been in contact with each other for the past couple of years.
Recently, the Maine Nordiques defenseman committed to play for the Black Bears starting in the 2022-23 season. The 18-year-old Antonacci said that he plans to study business.
He becomes the third Nordiques player to commit to the University of Maine, joining teammate Tyler Gaulin and former teammate Connor Androlewicz, who just completed his freshman season with the Black Bears. ....

Plans changed quickly for the Maine Nordiques organization, which is in its second year in the North American Hockey League. On Saturday, the Shreveport Mudbugs ended the Nordiques’ season with a two-gamesweep in the NAHL’s Robertson Cup semifinals, which took place in Blaine, Minnesota.
“Two years ago, I would be lying if I said yes, but this year at training camp I really thought we had an opportunity to do something really special,” Maine Nordiques coach Nolan Howe said of reaching the semifinals. “It was a gut feeling that I had with how tight-knit the boys were right off the bat. … Two years ago, I would have said it was going to be a five-year plan, but at training camp, we thought we had a specia ....
