More than 100 college-age University of Oregon football fans packed into a backyard Saturday, May 1, 2021, to celebrate the spring football game, ignoring the crowd limits set by the state, which put Lane County in extreme risk status April 30.
An uptick in local cases threw Lane County back into extreme risk, upending the plans of many businesses, football fans and the community as a whole.
County commissioners wrote to the state asking it to reconsider and grant more local control on industry guidelines and focus on pushing more vaccinations. ....

Oregon OSHA Continues to Enforce State’s COVID-19 ETS
The Oregon Occupational Safety and Health (Oregon OSHA), a division of the Department of Consumer & Business Services, continues to enforce the state’s COVID-19 emergency temporary standard (ETS). The agency recently cited a bar, a restaurant, and two home improvement stores for exposing employees to risk of infection.

Oregon OSHA fined Twisted River Saloon in Springfield $18,430 for violating the ETS. The agency inspected Twister River Saloon in response to multiple complaints. The employer willfully continued to potentially expose workers to the virus, despite a public health order limiting the capacity of indoor dining to zero in an “extreme risk” county. ....

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – Springfield’s Twisted River Saloon has appealed their citation, which comes after state officials say they violated several COVID-19 safety protocols.
The company was recently fined $18,430, according to the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services. State officials say the restaurant put employees at risk. Multiple complaints against the business led to an inspection.
Twisted River reportedly opened for indoor dining in early January and continued the practice through the end of February, which was during a time when Lane County was considered to be at the “extreme risk” level. ....

Corvallis Farmers’ Market will be opening again on April 17, back in downtown, and sticking to COVID restrictions. Those restrictions include allowing only one person per household into the Market at a time, take-out only from the surrounding restaurants, no single-serve drinks sold, and the ever-present masks and social distancing. However, Market restaurants will be allowed to have dining in their parking areas. Jennifer Moreland of the Downtown Corvallis Association told the 
Daily Barometer, “It’s one of the safest ways you can shop.”
