Green energy manager will help Walpole tackle climate change

Mary Ellen Gambon walpole@wickedlocal.com The Walpole Select Board voted 5-0 at its May 11 meeting to enter into an agreement to share an energy manager with the towns of Norwood and Sharon, combining their resources to create a full-time position to find more ways to use renewable energy.  Walpole Town Administrator Jim Johnson explained at the Select Board meeting that a $40,000 request was placed at Town Meeting to share an energy manager with the towns of Norwood and Sharon. A position for a part-time energy manager was created in 2019, when Norwood was designated as a Green Community. Sharon had received its designation two years prior. The full-time position would go into effect on July 1.
