TUPELO â¢Â Todd Jordan and Victor Fleitas, Tupeloâs two mayoral candidates, painted different pictures of how they would respond to any future potential pandemic and how they would pick the cityâs new police chief, during a Thursday night forum at the Link Centre in Tupelo. Jordan, the Republican candidate, and Fleitas, the Democratic candidate, answered questions related to health care, economic development and education. When asked if he would be willing to enact any local health protocols to prevent the spread of a deadly pandemic, Jordan stopped short of fully committing to the proposal. Instead, he said said he would study where the severity of a threat was concentrated. ....

TUPELO â¢Â Todd Jordan and Jason Shelton once again traded personal barbs at one another on social media â this time over each otherâs responses to Sundayâs tornadic storm, which damaged around 90 properties in Tupelo. Shelton, the cityâs outgoing mayor, and Todd Jordan, the Republican nominee vying to replace him, have previously criticized each other. But the sharp rhetoric has grown particularly acute since Jordan won the Republican nomination. At around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, the two-term Democratic mayor wrote on his personal Facebook account that as the city is experiencing another natural disaster, heâs certain that the next mayor should be someone who is âcompetent, capable, and qualified.â ....
