We are investigating herdsmen invasion of farm in Ekiti ― Govt

The Ekiti State government has disclosed that it was investigating the report of the farm invasion by suspected herdsmen in Aduloju farmstead located along Ado-Ijan road in the state capital.
The secretary of Maize Growers Processing Marketer Association of Nigeria (MAGPAMAN) in the state, Mr Tope Emmanuel told journalists on Tuesday that herdsmen invaded their farm covering 235 hectares of land and destroyed multi-million naira maize.
The state Commissioner for Information, Mr Akin Omole in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital sympathized with the 160 affected farmers, saying everything possible would be done to address the situation. ....

Herders' Invasion: Ekiti is Safe for Business, Say Govt, Police

The Ekiti State Government and the state Police Command have said they are stepping up security in every section of the state to ward off insecurity relating to alleged invasion of the Ekiti by herdsmen.
They, however, urged the residents not to panic over the rumour that herders evicted from Ondo State’s forest reserves are allegedly invading the state in droves, which might spark up tension.
They restated that Ekiti is safe for smooth running of businesses, as government and security agencies are monitoring the situation and rejigging the security architecture to tame any criminal element. ....

Police: No influx of herdsmen to Ekiti forests

The Police Command in Ekiti State on Wednesday said there was no influx of herdsmen forests in the state from Ondo State forest reserves as being reported in the media.
The command disclosed this in a statement signed in Ado-Ekiti by Mr Sunday Abutu, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), on behalf of the state Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr Tunde Mobayo.
The statement said the command had neither sighted nor received any report of herders migrating or relocating into any part of the state or its forests.
It, therefore, called on the residents to disregard the report as fake and fictitious. ....

Cases of kidnapping are becoming worrying in the South-West with kidnappers having a field day in Ekiti State. It’s a miraculous story for one of the kidnap victims, sixty-three-year-old retiree, Mr Taiwo Davies, who spent about a week in the den of kidnappers after he was abducted on Friday, November 16, 2019 axis along Ikere–Akure Road.
Davies said, “Kidnappers don’t move in the daytime. Immediately they kidnap someone, they would move to the bush in that environment, but the following day, at about 7pm when they know people are no longer on the farms, they would move to another place. ....

Police, Amotekun, others go after Ekiti oil dealer's kidnappers

Gunmen on Sunday kidnapped a petroleum products dealer in Ado Ekiti, Alhaji Suleiman Akinbami.
The incident happened at the victim’s petrol filling station on the Ado-Ijan Road in Ado Ekiti around 9pm.
The gunmen, said to be four, took the victim to an unknown destination.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Sunday Abutu, who confirmed the incident, said, “The command has deployed a special team of policemen to be assisted by the Amotekun Corps, the local hunters and the vigilantes to comb the bush for possible tracking of the suspects and the release of the victim. ....
