Humans eat, drink and breathe in tens of thousands of micro- and nanoplastics, but research into the effects on health is limited.

The average person ingests up to 70 000 microplastics annually. And we breathe them in too, according to a study in the journal
Environmental Science and Technology. It’s hard not to do so because these minute particles and the even smaller nanoplastics are everywhere in food, water, household products, infants’ bottles and mainly from plastic litter that’s breaking down.
