Although Mongolia stayed free from this deadly virus for almost 10 months, thanks to drastic measures such as closing its borders, canceling international flights, closing all educational facilities, and even banning the national holiday of Tsagaan Sar (Lunar New Year) and Naadam Festival, the latest wave has brought an explosion of cases. Daily case counts first crossed the 100 mark in early March; now they routinely top 1,000. Specifically, on February 14, 1991, the eve of Tsagaan sar, the delegation led by former Minister of Finance A.Bazarkhuu signed a cooperation agreement at the World Bank’s headquarters in Washington, becoming the 155 th member country. Through the years of cooperation, USD 1.2 billion has been committed to Mongolia by the World Bank in development financing, including low-interest loans, zero to low-interest credits and grants. The commemorative coin of Mongolia ‘Tsagaan Uul’ (Edelweiss) won 3rd place award in the category of ‘Best artistic solution’ of the 14th international coin contest - Coin Constellation 2020. The ‘Tsagaan Uul’ coin weighs 31.1 grams and has a diameter of 33 mm. In total, 26 central banks and mints from 17 countries competed in nine categories with their more than 200 commemorative coins, issued in 2019. In the 13th Coin Constellation 2019, the Mongolian franchise coin ‘Velociraptor’ of the series of prehistoric beasts took third place in the Best Technology category of the contest. The ‘Velociraptor’ coin, first in this series, has a diameter of 65 mm and a weight of 93.3 grams. ....
