Variety - the Children’s Charity has recently appointed four new members to its board to help shape the organisation’s future direction towards alleviating child poverty.
With more than 60% of children supported through its flagship Kiwi Kid Sponsor programme being from a Māori or Pacific Island background, Variety recognised the need for the board to reflect the community it supports. The board members were appointed due to their active leadership and extensive backgrounds in improving social outcomes for children and young people, as well as their commitment to reducing child poverty and improving child wellbeing in New Zealand. ....

Eric Gerritsen, pictured about the time he was fined $115,000 in the Hamilton District Court, on a charge of obstructing a health and safety inspector who was investigating an incident involving one of his company s inflatable slides.
The man behind a company operating an inflatable slide in Whangamatā that spectacularly collapsed, badly injuring a man atop it, has been involved in numerous other slide failures in recent years.
Stuff he had no involvement with the slide that collapsed at Williamson Park last Monday.
