eizzo@adirondackdailyenterprise.com LAKE PLACID The village of Lake Placid is reviving its Climate Smart Community program with the goal of getting a bronze certification, like the neighboring community of Saranac Lake did last year. The village established a CSC task force in 2018, but village Trustee Jason Leon said on Monday that both the village and the town were working on creating a combined task force. “The ultimate goal is that both the village and the town can be certified bronze by the year’s end,” he said. “It’s an ambitious one, but we’re just getting the group together.”

Holdereid is deputy mayor as Lake Placid appointments made | News, Sports, Jobs

Peter Holdereid (Enterprise photo — Elizabeth Izzo) LAKE PLACID Village Trustee Peter Holdereid was appointed Lake Placid’s new deputy mayor on Monday. The new appointment was made during the village’s annual organizational meeting, the first meeting led by recently elected Mayor Art Devlin, who was sworn in that day. Holdereid has been a village trustee since 2011. He and his family own and operate the Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort on Main Street. He is a graduate of Lake Placid’s Northwood School. Newly elected Trustee Jackie Kelly was sworn in ahead of the organizational meeting. The other new trustee, Marc Galvin, owner of the Bookstore Plus on Main Street, had been sworn in earlier because was out of town on the day of the organizational meeting. He still attended virtually, and his daughter led the Pledge of Allegiance at the start of the meeting.

eizzo@adirondackdailyenterprise.com LAKE PLACID Village of Lake Placid voters should see forms to apply for an absentee ballot arrive in the mail next week. Lake Placid Village Board members Tuesday, Feb. 9 voted to pay for prepaid envelopes that will allow the village’s 1,555 registered voters to not only mail back their application for an absentee ballot for free, but also mail the absentee ballot itself back for free. “We will certainly encourage people to vote absentee,” Mayor Craig Randall said Tuesday. “We have people that will have to be social distanced, masked, all of that is a management problem.”
