Both candidates spent the day on the Campaign Trail clarifying some of their positions, doubling down on others and most definitely taking aim at each other. Our senior political correspondent, brianna keilar, joins us with the latest. Clinton spending today defending what she said last night. What did she focus on . Thats right. What she said last night, a promise, shes clearly sensitive to her iraq war vote still and promised there would be no Ground Troops used if iraq or syria. And shes gotten some criticism from people who say shes taking an important option off of the table here, anderson. She said that she would support american troops, Special Forces, doing reconnaissance assisting, indigenous or local forces and providing advisory roles which is the terminology currently used by the white house. Some also thought ....
The president that goes after somebody who was in the military. what doesn t help is blatant hypocrisy. so he s on vacation for 17 days. twice as long as president obama vacationed in his first year in office. he spent 24% of his first 200 days at a trump golf property or resort. he claims that all this golfing is to cut deals. but we ve seen no deals effectively implemented in congress. so you have that hypocrisy, and senator blumenthal should never have misled people, but he took responsibility for that, which the president does not when he misleads people. so you have a draft dodger attacking someone who did serve in the military during vietnam, although not in vietnam. i think this piling on hypocrisy is going to further erode his trust numbers. and that s very dangerous for him and very good for the democrats. i think for me the big thing ....
Obamacare, which are all but dead in the senate. constituents are mad it hasn t been done. take corey gardner, who went to colorado, giving a town hall on environmental policy and of course it turns into a big obamacare sort of, i guess airing of the grievances and it s not necessarily what he wanted to talk about. you can see how it certainly went in that direction. on the other hand, he will have constituents that he wasn t able to be part of a repeal, even though he voted for it. many constituents wanted republicans to make good on that promise. you wonder what line they walk when they deal with the trust numbers and credibility gap. you have 73% of americans don t trust anything coming out of the white house. dig into those numbers, more important for the republicans, only 50% of republicans believe what is coming out of the white ....
My trust numbers were dropping so much. if you had 59% of people approving strongly, and that s down 14 percentage points since february, among republicans, you ve got problems, and rick tyler, you ve got problems especially if you look at the map. you start in iowa where he didn t do that well. you go to new hampshire, which he called a drug adled state, and drug infested den. this is i only bring this up because this is what the trump white house was thinking about before the first day they got sworn in. they were talking about the states that they had been polling way back in january to make sure they won in 2020. all of these numbers look pretty tough, but, again, i guess for you and me, guys who have either run in or run campaigns in republican primaries, it s those ....
