By Erica Thomas, managing editor MOODY The Moody Police Department recently received a $3,000 donation from a neighboring police department, to complete the Law Enforcement Memorial. Moody police officers killed in the line of duty, Officer Keith Turner (L) and Lt. Stephen Williams (R). The memorial will go in front of the Moody Police Department and will be in honor of Officer Keith Turner and Lt. Stephen Williams. Turner was killed on Saturday, June 27, 1998, after stopping a stolen vehicle on County Highway 10. Two escapees from Mississippi were in the vehicle and had already shot and wounded an officer in Tuscaloosa when Turner attempted to stop them. ....
From The Tribune staff reports GADSDEN Former Trussville resident and local sports radio personality Jeffrey Scott Moore was finally taken into custody after being wanted by the Etowah County Sheriff’s Department, for more than a year, for not paying child support. Trussville Police arrested Moore after a tipster called in and told them he had been spotted in the city. Police entered Moore’s information into Flock Safety and received a hit on July 25. That’s when they tracked him down and took him into custody. Moore was placed on the ECSO’s “most wanted” list for a warrant of failing to pay child support, last year. The failure to pay dates back to close to a decade and pertains to one of his children. ....
From The Tribune staff reports TRUSSVILLE Members of the Trussville Police Department gathered at Hewitt-Trussville High School on Thursday, July 22, for what is now called “Active Killer Training.” Traditionally known as “Active Shooter Training,” the focus on the preparation technique has now changed to consider all types of killings. “We’re trying to get away from using ‘active shooter’ because that implies that they have a gun, when in fact, they can kill somebody with all kinds of weapons, other than a gun,” said Chief Eric Rush. Trussville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Pattie Neill said she is pleased with the partnership the school system has with the city in order to ensure the safety of all students. ....
