How about you? we have different briefings, same people. i don t know what was said in the senate briefing. i left okay with the briefing because it was specifically based on what we did in response to chemical weapons. i wish we d had a slightly more robust strike, but i think it was very robust and sent a strong statement. the biggest question is what is the syria policy? since the beginning of the civil war, whether it s under president obama or president trump we haven t had one. but did you get the impression because it seems like lindsay graham did, he said my impression is that this administration, this president wants to get out of syria as soon as possible. was that the impression you had leaving, as well? i don t think i got that impression. again, i don t know what was said in his briefing. it was a different one, but i did get the impression that they weren t going to talk about a broader serious strategy. that s the case for the last year and a half. it s a complicat
The president has been reluctant to do things to escalate these tensions with russia and it seems to be what kudlow was saying and this is our understanding from talking to other officials that the president is, you know, putting a slow roll on this. there are some reports coming out of russia from the state news agency task that the white house even called the russians and said sanctions are not coming. we haven t gotten confirmation from the white house. officially the administration says sanctions are being considered but where does that leave nikki with the administration? every day it s something else and things will probably blow over, but what haley was trying to say is don t throw shade on me publicly. if there is something to discuss let s discuss it privately. i don t think larry kudlow would say that about a man that he was confused. one thing was clear when she said i don t get confused and it doesn t get much more clear
News. that s where they ll look to stay. shannon: we have a lot of other things that are bubbling. tax reform, the debt ceiling is coming. that s something no matter what other scandal may be playing out, that cannot be ignored. that is just weeks away as well. this is the high ground and the advantage the president has if he sees it this way. we can either get mired in a scandal only washington wants to talk about. or he can pivot out of it and talk back to the issues of the people who elected him, want him to be successful on, that s so he can grow a coalition. that s the trump we haven t seen yet though. but there s so many opportunities for president trump to do that. now, what s interesting is, he s got a new lawyer who does want to handle this. a disciplined man. is he going to be more influential with the president, getting the president to stick to a message and not get himself in any legal trouble and, therefore, not take the bait when reporters try to feed it to him? we l
