A benefit is scheduled for this evening for Taylor Fitzgerald, the daughter of Kim and Troy Shook, who is battling cancer.  Activities will include a live auction starting at 4 p.m. outside the Wayne City Baptist Church parking lot, with food prepared by Steve and Paula Erhart, Randy and Leeta Mason, and Sandy Baker.  The meal will be drive-through only starting at 5 p.m. with the menu being a choice of smoked pork loin or smoked chicken with trimmings.  T-shirts are also available for purchase by calling (618) 599-4522 or (618) 895-4567.
The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 1,206,172 cases of the coronavirus statewide as of this morning and 20,901 deaths.  The Wayne County Health Department did not release an update on Friday of its numbers in the county.  The latest numbers from Edwards County indicated a total of 541 cases with four people in isolation.  COVID-19 vaccinations are available for Fairfield residents and will be distributed this Tuesday.� ....
