In 2014 Vishal Patel, resident of Mt. Prospect, presented his idea of buying a franchise cricket to his friends while hanging out at a social gathering. The team would recruit or draft the best young players in the Chicagoland area and tour throughout the Americas to play elite tournaments.
Cricket is a popular sport in the Chicagoland area and there are more than 200 teams here, but a franchise team was unheard of. The concept of a franchise team was not new , the Indian Premier League ( IPL) works on a similar structure, so does the NFL and MLS here in the states. ....

Recently a student was bullied and injured at Forest Elementary School in Des Plaines. Superintendent Paul Hertel sent a letter to parents downplaying the incident, calling it a “game of tag.” It turns out the child was separated from classmates, shoes were thrown off and finally the child was injured. It was not a game for the victim. Note to self: Never play tag with Paul Hertel!
Long before this incident Dr. Hertel had consistently dismissed, downplayed, and otherwise ignored bullying and harassment issues. His response is often to blame the victim or the parents of the victim. This is not an isolated incident but instead an almost certain and predictable outcome of his commitment to sweeping the negative under the rug while misleading the parents and community members of Des Plaines. ....
