BHP Awards McDermott FEED Contract for Trion FPU

HOUSTON, May 11, 2021 /PRNewswire/ McDermott International, Ltd today announced it has been selected by BHP Petróleo Operaciones de México, S. De R.L. De C.V. (BHP), in partnership with Pemex, to provide Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) of a Semi-submersible Floating Production Unit (FPU) for the Trion Project in the Gulf of Mexico. The FPU will be designed for a water depth of approximately 8,200 feet (2,500 meters) and will be located in the Trion Field, approximately 19 miles (30 kilometers) south of the U.S./Mexico border and approximately 112 miles (180 kilometers) off the Mexican coastline.

BHP to perform the preliminary Front-End Engineering Design (pre-FEED) extension phase for a Floating Production Unit (FPU) that could be installed in a water depth of approx. 8,200 feet (2,500 meters) at the
Trion field, located approx. 19 miles (30 kms) south of the U.S./Mexico border and approx. 112 miles (180 kms) from the Mexican coastline.
The pre-FEED extension is expected to create greater value for the project by concentrating on the optimization of the design and execution strategy.

BHP Petroleo Operaciones de Mexico, S. De R.L. De C.V. (NYSE: BHP) has selected McDermott International, Ltd. to perform the preliminary front-end engineering design (pre-FEED) extension phase for a floating production unit (FPU) envisioned for the Trion field offshore Mexico’s Gulf Coast.
