Sun to be directly above Sri Lanka for 10 days (Photos)

The Meteorological Department states that the sun will be directly above the latitudes of Sri Lanka from today (04) until 14 April.
Accordingly, the sun will be over Thelwatta, Baddegama, Dediyawala, Mulatiyana, Angunakopelessa and Udamalala areas today (05).
The Meteorological Department stated that due to this there could be extreme temperatures in 10 districts which should be taken into consideration.
Heat index, the temperature felt on human body is expected to increase up to ‘Extreme Caution’ level at some places in Mullaitivu, Vauniya, Puttalam, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Ampara and Monaragala districts.
The Heat Index Forecast is calculated by using relative humidity and maximum temperature and this is the condition that is felt on your body. This is not the forecast of maximum temperature. It is generated by the Department of Meteorology for the next day period and ....

Former General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Prof. Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa stated that the party will represent the Trincomalee oil tank farm in the same manner as it represented the Eastern Terminal of the Colombo Port.
He was speaking at a media briefing held in Kandy yesterday.
However, speaking to the media in Colombo yesterday, Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila stated that he had never stated that the Sri Lankan Government would take over the Trincomalee oil tank farm.

Trinco Oil Tank Farm to be re-acquired


(MENAFN - Colombo Gazette) e Trincomalee Oil Tank Farm will be re-acquired by the Government soon, Minister of Energy Udaya Gammanpila announced today.
The Cabinet co-spokesman said discussions held on Sunday (14) with the Indian High Commissioner in Colombo to reacquire the Oil Tank Farm were successful.
Minister Gammanpila further said the Indian High Commissioner had agreed to forego the agreement signed in 2017.
The Indian official had accepted the new terms and conditions submitted by the Government in this regard, he said.
Minister Gammanpila said the new conditions were formed after discussions with relevant parties, including trade unions.
All issues pertaining to the Oil Tank Farm were resolved during the discussions with the Indian official, he said. ....
