Edwards County Commissioners met Monday morning at the county courthouse. Commissioners say, as of April 1st, the EMS service is run by the county; when put in place about 15 years ago, EMS was a not-for-profit working for the county but independently from it, but commissioners felt it should fall under the county umbrella for administrative purposes. Voters are now able to request a mail-in ballot for the June 28th Primary Election in Illinois. State Board of Elections Spokesperson Matt Dietrich says people can start the process at elections.il.gov, or they can contact their local election authority, like the County Clerk. He says, eventually, people will be able to permanently request mail-in ballots for all future elections. FNB invites the public to a community celebration and open house at its Tri-County Banking Center building in Grayville. 28-year-old Carmi resident Whitney P. McKenzie was killed in a two-vehicle accident yesterday in Harrisburg. State police say she failed to yield to oncoming traffic in a 2011 Chevy Malibu and turned into the path of a 2001 Mack semi, driven by 28-year-old Carl B. Wood. McKenzie was pronounced deceased on-scene, and Wood refused treatment.
Fairfield Memorial Hospital says it began giving the second dose of COVID-19 vaccines yesterday to employees and medical staff who received the first dose on December 16
th. As with the county health department, FMH says it has not been informed of a date when it can offer the vaccine to the public, but it will share that information when it becomes available. ....
