The news was confirmed by his friend and fellow publicist Renee Pfefer, who wrote on a GoFundMe page dedicated to helping Alexander with medical expenses, It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of Randy Alexander s passing tonight, Sunday, December 27, 2020. Former Hearst Corporation Vice President and Group Executive for Newspapers James “Roger” Grier passed away peacefully Dec. 10 in Plymouth, Wisconsin surrounded by his family.
Laredo Morning Times publisher Bill Green reported to Grier when he first arrived in Laredo in December 1986.
“Not only very media smart, Roger brought a wealth of experience and professional demeanor that often made difficult challenges manageable,” Green said. “He championed industry’s cost and revenues studies as we learned how LMT compared to our peer revenue and circulation groups across the US. Roger made media fun, fascinating and fruitful for all of us. We will miss his intellect, charm and leadership.” ....
