The New Jersey Devils have finished 29th out of 31 teams in last season’s truncated regular season. This means they have better odds than all but three teams in this year’s NHL Draft Lottery. You may be tired of caring about it. You may wish the days of cheering on the team to gain more lottery ball combinations are over soon. You may want the Devils to at least not have a double-digit chance at winning them next year. I hear you. I understand you. Hopefully, you will get you want in the near future. But tonight, it is what it is. Once again, we shall wonder whether the lottery will favor the New Jersey Devils or at least not favor their hated rivals.

Once again, the New Jersey Devils did not make the Stanley Cup Playoffs in the 2021 season. You probably know that already. However, neither of the Devils’ two most hated rivals also not made it. You can (probably) enjoy one of the greatest tournaments in sports without worrying about having any success rubbed in the face of our favorite team. The passion, the intensity, the action, and the drama of the Stanley Cup Playoffs is rarely matched. This year’s version could be especially dramatic as the first two rounds will be match-ups that each team would be familiar with given it is within the division and the division-only regular season schedule.
PROSPECT WATCH: Zetterlund Developing at his Own Pace
It can be a slow and winding road, but Fabian Zetterlund is getting there. by Sam Kasan @SamiKasan / NewJerseyDevils.com
Sitting on his couch in a Newark hotel, Fabian Zetterlund s thoughts were drifting back to home.
He wasn t homesick. The 21-year-old Swede, a right wing in his second season with the Binghamton Devils, was in big brother mode. It s my sister s birthday today, he said. She s turning 17.
Zetterlund had made sure to send his best wishes to his younger sibling. He s hoping for more positive vibes as the B-Devils enter their stretch drive on an American Hockey League season that has been like none other.
