streets are blocked off in the area. roz: they are. i would call this a massive police response. we are at six and independence. back there is where the activity seems to be, maryland avenue. the area roped off goes all the way down independence to maryland, back to 7th street about a block on either side of maryland avenue. we are near the old campus of the department of transportation, which has multiple buildings up and down and around maryland avenue. there are multiple agencies here. we have d.c. police, which seemed to be taking the lead in this investigation federal police, park police, homeland security, metro transit officers. there are helicopters overhead and fire trucks standing by. this has been going on for more than an hour. the question is why. all we have been able to get from police right now is that they are investigating something. i think you have to assume it is something that they believe they need this large a presence to get some understanding and get
