There’s plenty to look forward to in spring 2021 and not just warmer weather.
Several restaurants are preparing to open in the Harrisburg area, giving pent-up diners an opportunity to grab a seat or takeout from a new spot.
While some of the restaurants’ plans were delayed by COVID-19, others have sprung up during the pandemic hiatus. Many are awaiting the all-clear as state restrictions loosen up and vaccination rates to climb before they officially host grand openings. The new restaurants are coming on board as the state has eased some restrictions on restaurants, allowing more diners, bar service and later hours for serving ....

“All we needed is our bar service. That will make a hundred times the difference for us,” he said. “That is really going to take a lot of pressure off of us.”
Effective at midnight on April 4, restaurants can resume bar seating, allow alcohol service without purchase of a meal and once again sell alcohol after 11 p.m. Those establishments that self-certify can raise indoor dining levels to 75% occupancy. ....

Novelty outdoor set-ups and heated porches, delivery, takeout and contactless pick-up featuring holiday meals and house specialties are keeping these eateries from folding. Who would have thought a year ago we’d be gleefully carting home 32-ounce carafes of homemade Fresco eggnog, and oysters, or dressing warmly and heading outside to eat in a snow globe.
