On May 18, the council will consider proposals for a mixed-use project with 36 microunits (with an average size of 342 square feet) at 955 Alma St., as well as a proposal for a 24-apartment building at 2239 Wellesley Ave., a single-family zone in College Terrace.
The College Terrace project, which is being proposed by Cate Investments, is already creating a stir, with dozens of neighborhood residents rallying against the project, which they say does not belong in a neighborhood zoned for single-family homes. OLYMPIA, Wash. Drivers could see a sharp toll rate increase for State Route 520 Bridge by this summer as the state works to mitigate reduced revenues that began with the coronavirus pandemic.
The Washington State Transportation Commission began discussing new toll rates, which could include a 120-day emergency rate, followed by a permanent rate. To meet upcoming financial and legal obligations, toll rates could increase an estimated 25-35%. ....

SAN FRANCISCO – Napa County Supervisor Alfredo Pedroza assumed the helm of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission on February 24th, as the regional board unanimously elected him to serve as Chair for the two-year term running through February 2023. Pedroza has served as MTC’s Vice Chair for the past two years and has represented Napa County on the Commission since 2017.
“As the Bay Area, like the rest of the world, looks ahead to emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic, recovery and resilience will be front and center in all of MTC’s work,” Pedroza said. “That means working with our partner transportation agencies to adapt to new travel patterns and new budget constraints while continuing to focus ....

Tuscaloosa: The University of Alabama is requiring that students who will live on campus for the spring 2021 semester must be tested for coronavirus, officials said. The tests must happen within seven days of their arrival, no later than Jan. 19. The spring semester will begin Jan. 13. The university will offer free testing, or students can choose to get tested before returning to Tuscaloosa. Test results are expected to be provided within 24 hours to three days. The spring reentry testing is only required for those living on campus, including in residence halls and fraternity and sorority houses. In addition to reentry testing, the university is continuing to conduct a variety of testing for all students, including sentinel, for-cause, exposure and symptomatic testing.
