AAA The Health and Transport departments have initiated the process of fixing a cap on charges for ambulance services. Deputy Chief Minister and Transport Minister Laxman Savadi met with Minister for Health and Family Welfare K. Sudhakar on Monday to discuss the matter.
Over the past few weeks, there have been complaints of ambulance drivers overcharging aggrieved families trying to take their relatives to hospitals or those wanting to shift bodies of the deceased to crematoria in the city. They are allegedly being asked to cough up between ₹10,000 and ₹50,000.

Govt. likely to announce curbs today or tomorrow
Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa on Friday said “imposing lockdown will be inevitable” if the people did not adhere to COVID curfew and restrictions.
The government had already imposed lockdown-like norms from 9 p.m. on April 27 to 6 a.m. on May 12.
Mr. Yediyurappa, who offered prayers at a temple at Gandhinagar in the city, told reporters that “We are discussing this with officials today and tomorrow. What kind of action should be taken will be decided then.”

As many as 12 journalists of Belagavi district have tested positive for COVID-19 and have been advised home isolation.
The Election Commission has declared a COVID-19 negative report mandatory for entry into counting centres.
In the wake of the counting of the votes for the Belagavi Lok Sabha bypoll scheduled on Sunday, nearly 80 journalists of Belagavi had undergone a RT-PCR test on Thursday. The results of the same were received on Friday and Saturday, and 12 of them have tested positive.
Deputy Director of Information and Publicity Gurunath Kadabur has said that 11 among them are asymptomatic.
