A South Sudanese civil society activist has called for the activation and implementation of the Transitional Justice Mechanisms agreed upon by the signatories of the 2018 revitalized peace agreement.
The Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, with support from the Human Rights Division of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) on Tuesday launched the ministry`s official website.

Case studies in Brazil, South Africa, and Northern Ireland shed light on which types of transitional justice programs are likely to be most effective in the United States.

Background: The African Union Transitional Justice Policy (AUTJP) was officially adopted by the African Union Assembly in February 2019. Following this development, the African Union Commission (AUC) has prioritized the realization of the objectives of the Policy through promotion of its Implementation in Africa. Currently, few numbers of the AU Member States are implementing different types of Transitional Justice (TJ) mechanisms, some have taken additional step, utilizing the AUTJP to develop their country specific TJ Policy and programmes. Specific Regional Economic Communities (RECs) and Regional Mechanisms (RMs) are also making significant progress in this regard.
