Northwich town councillor wants community to have more pride


COMMUNITY should be at the heart of improving our lives, according to the newest member of Northwich Town Council.
Cllr Lee Siddall was appointed as a councillor for the Winnington and Castle ward last month and in an exclusive chat with
the Guardian, said how he wants to use his time in office to help instil a sense of community pride.
After securing the required number of signatures, he was unopposed and appointed on to the council and May and is now focused on getting to work.
It s about instilling pride in the town and getting people involved in doing things to improve the community, he said. ....

Northwich joins Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme


A RANGE of organisations and businesses in Northwich have teamed up to help make the town more accessible for visitors by joining the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme.
Launched in 2016, the initiative provides a discreet way for people to signify that they have an invisible disability.
By displaying the Sunflower it lets people know that the wearer, or someone with them, may require some extra help, time or assistance.
As funding partners, Northwich Business Improvement District, Northwich Town Council, Barons Quay and Rotary in Northwich have distributed stocks of Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyards to participating shops, hospitality businesses, open public spaces and public buildings, allowing people with invisible disabilities to pick one up which they can use when out and about. ....

Transition Northwich calls for town to be more bike friendly


A PIONEERING Northwich cyclist is demonstrating how delivery vehicles can be replaced by pollution-free bicycles.
Paul Dean established his own business (Pauls Cycling Services) about a year ago, offering deliveries to people using one his two specially adapted trikes.
And now, community group Transition Northwich, has been singing his praises after his pedal power provided them with an environmentally-friendly solution to a transport conundrum.
When Paul offered to help move 6 x6 trellis panels to our community garden, we were delighted but curious, explained Alison Chew, who volunteers with Transition Northwich.
How could he possibly move such a large load by bike? ....

Climate change awareness green heart trail around Northwich


Northwich Craft Collaboration is a newly formed group bringing together craft makers in the town.
The group is open to crafters of all abilities to share skills, network and support makers with publicity, business advice and coordinate group events.
A green heart at Sandiway Primary School.
This month, some of their members decided to support the #showthelove campaign; creating green hearts using recycled materials.
This nationwide campaign helps young people to learn about the urgency of and solutions to climate change and empowers them to ask decision makers to make the changes needed to combat global warming.
On Valentine s Day, volunteers from Transition Northwich distributed the green hearts around the town. ....
