“Cognitive Decoloniality: Two Cultures and the Transcultural, Exploring the Mental Experiences of Transcultural Literature from the Caribbean to the Maghreb” will take place 
Thursday, Feb. 18 via Zoom. The event examines texts from Francophone North Africa and the Caribbean with an eye toward decoloniality, literature and the mind. Decoloniality references the power created through the processes, experience and aftermath of colonialization and explores the connections and ways of living that were displaced by the impact of colonialism. ....

Graham Mort
Graham Mort is emeritus professor of Creative Writing and Transcultural Literature at Lancaster University where he directed the Centre for Transcultural Writing and Research. Amongst his many awards are the Edge Hill University Short Story Prize 2011 for his collection
Touch (Seren, 2010), the Bridport Prize for his short story ‘The Prince’, Cheltenham Poetry Competition first prize (twice), an Eric Gregory Award, two Duncan Lawrie prizes in the Arvon Foundation International Poetry competition and a Poetry Book Society recommendation. His collection,
Black Shiver Moss, was published by Seren in 2017.
Like Fado, his forthcoming book of short stories, will be published by Salt in January 2021. ....

Rushika Wick is a poet and doctor with an interest in intersections between sociology and impacts on the body. In particular, how these affect women and children. She is also developing a practice of visual poetry and making object-poems. She has work in various anthologies and magazines including Ambit, Datableed and forthcoming in Magma and SAND (Berlin). She has performed in London and Amsterdam as part of the Cold Lips collective and Rough Night Press, and has been on residency in Norwich as part of the Skylark Community. She is a current student at the Poetry School and has a debut collection launching in April 2021 with Verve. ....
