SILVER CITY - Silver City MainStreet is acknowledging downtown businesses that have persevered during the COVID-19 pandemic with Downtown Silver City Strong awards. The awards are a way to say thank you to businesses that have worked hard to stay open and find new and creative ways to operate. The latest recipients are Jumping Cactus Coffee House, Forrest Pizza and the Tranquil Buzz Coffee House. Melissa Holland took over the Jumping Cactus Coffee House just as the pandemic hit. She recently held a bake sale for the holidays to earn more funds. She said customers pre-ordered and then safely picked up their items. Holland encourages residents to order take out drinks and sit outside on the porch to enjoy one of her coffees or treats. ....
