Two persons were killed after they were hit by a train engine on a trial run between Rayagada and Singapur Road junction in Rayagada district. Villagers are demanding adequate compensation for the bereaved families.
East Coast Railway officials said the deceased were sitting on the third railway track which is being laid between Rayagada and Singapore road station.
A fire broke out in the engine of the Khajuraho-Udaipur intercity train, causing it to halt at Sitholi Railway Station in Gwalior for two hours. Passengers faced difficulties while the engine was replaced. In a separate incident, fire broke out in two AC coaches of the Udyan Express in Bengaluru, but no passengers were present at the time.
