Late on Monday morning, the conductor on a train traveling on the tracks near Pierceville Road in West Wareham was hit by a shot from a pellet gun.
Police Chief John Walcek said that it may have been an accident and that the train employee received a minor injury.
Wareham Police, Plymouth County K-9s and State Police K-9s searched the area and spoke to people nearby.
The incident is under investigation by the Wareham Police. No charges have yet been filed.
