Second-half goals from Armando Dobra and Ben Folami saw a very young Town side to a 2-0 victory over Gillingham in their second group game in the EFL Trophy. Dobra struck home from the edge of the box on 57, then Folami turned home the second after good work from Gibbs with 15 minutes left as the Blues deservedly and in the end comfortably defeated the Gills.
WHAT HAPPENED
Our under-23s moved five points clear of the Premier League 2 relegation zone on Monday night as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Leicester City.
Daniel Oyegoke returned from injury and started at right back, while Omari Hutchinson came off the bench to make his debut. Marcelo Flores also received his first call-up at this level.
The Foxes started strongly and with less than 15 minutes on the clock they were gifted a golden opportunity to open the scoring. Thanawat Suengchitthawon picked up an underhit backpass to race through on goal and round the keeper, but our defenders tracked his run and managed to make a vital block to put it behind for a corner.
WHAT HAPPENED
Our FA Youth Cup journey came to an end in the quarter-finals on Friday night as we were beaten 3-1 by Liverpool.
Ken Gillard was forced into one change from our 3-1 victory over West Ham in the previous round - with Nathan Butler-Oyedeji replacing Omari Hutchinson - but we were unable to replicate that same attacking intensity at Anfield.
We dominated possession throughout the opening exchanges and came close through Kido Taylor-Hart, who cut inside from the left and fired over the bar, but Liverpool went on to open the scoring against the run of play.
With their first spell of pressure on our backline, Conor Bradley crossed to the far post and James Balagazi headed down, before Max Waltman converted from close range.
