School counselor Tracy Clements works in Neosho, Missouri, a town with small school district dealing with a big suicide problem.
âBetween 2014 and 2018, our suicide rates were many, many the national average,â Clements said.
Since the pandemic started, Clements says three students have attempted suicide and sheâs concerned that self-isolation and being away from the classroom could trigger even more.
âThis is something nobody has ever experienced,â she said. âThis is pushing our problem-solving skills to the limit and itâs forced all educators to step outside of their box and do things differently.â
