Townhead Post Office on Yorkshire Street is moving to larger premises in Rochdale town centre. The move to 142 Yorkshire Street sees the branch moving just 60 metres further up Yorkshire Street from its current site. The new premises, which are currently empty, will undergo a refurbishment to incorporate Townhead Post Office and retail, selling cards and stationery. It will operate as a local style branch with Post Office services provided from two Post Office serving points alongside the retail counter. The new premises will have a wide door and a step at the entrance, however a bell and signage would be installed at the entrance to the new premises and a portable ramp available on request. ....
THREE men are charged with being involved in a string of cash box raids. Jason McLaren, 27, Andrew Pyke, 25, and Patrick Nisbet, 29, faced the accusations at the High Court in Glasgow. A £20,000 robbery is said to have occurred at the Townhead Post Office in Coatbridge on December 15 2019. Prosecutors claim a cash box containing £25,000 was stolen at the Clydesdale Bank branch in Baillieston on December 27. It is further alleged an attempt to rob a security guard of £25,000 happened at the TSB in the city’s Duke Street on January 3. The indictment states two cash boxes was then stolen also that day in Byres Road as well in Merkland Drive, Kirkintilloch. ....
