shocked or distraught by elon musk s $44 billion buyout they couldn t compel themselves to speak out about his push to promote free speech. in fact, all some employees could muster was a tear-filled emoji or meme of emotional distress. those that did speak had mostly the same concerns that musk would undo the censorship mechanism they had put in place. some misinformation researchers, you know, the ones that flagged the pesky hunter biden laptop story also believe musk will damage the brand. here s a former twitter employee who had no problem speaking out. watch. that s what is worrisome to me. he talks about free speech. is it really free speech or is it i just don t want to be accountable for the terrible things i say? reporter: in the meantime twitter executives used a townhall format to convince employees the deal was financially good for twitter and musk could do
debates were going to be all important. history shows they are not. bill: i m so happy you brought that up. can i paraphrase barack obama, can i do that? can you say that a bit louder, brett brit. i was suggesting about the second debate because it was going to be based on the people in the audience. this was a townhall format. it won t be such an aggressive debate. i was wrong with b that. i would be hesitant to do so. bill: look, here is the deal with bob schieffer. he knows that candy crowley got hammered. he also knows that he is liberal. sheef ser a liberal. i worked with him. schieffer is a liberal. so there is nothing wrong with it. bob schieffer is entitled to do whatever he wants to do. he has to ask about libya.
heart, perhaps, than a moderator s question. so, it is as the lead in suggested, something where mr. romney has an opportunity to show he can connect with voters in a way that some people feel he has failed to do so far and we have seen in the past this kind of townhall debate can have an effect as in the 1992 campaign where the first george bush had a bit of trouble connecting with the questioners in a town-hall style. shepard: his own people admitted that and they adjusted before the next debate. in this particular debate, the analysts have said that this is a format which the president is very comfortable. this is a format which traditionally, mitt romney has not found a lot of comfort but whether he can get a game changer is another matter. guest: that is true. the expectations, with so much written about expectations game
before the first debate, obviously, that debate has chained everyone s expectations. so, now, the threshhold is higher for romney. he did so well on the first debate, and president obama has to indicate some strength in this debate. the townhall format, mr. romney was aggressive in the first debate and president obama has indicated he will come out more aggressively but that may not be a format that accepts aggression. it will be interesting to watch that part of the equation. shepard: they are now using rather than aggressive they are using the word energetic. one well-known strategist said it looked like he had taken a xanax so maybe tonight is the night for something else.
