Here in cairns we got the equivalent of maybe a category 2 storm. the actual eye of the storm was a category 5 and that passed down about 100 k south of me. over a town at mission beach and so i ve been through category 2 storms here before and they re not too bad so wasn t too scared but definitely when the storm was building up off the coast it was a bit of an element of fear there and as it came across the fears kind alleviated itself when it veered south. we are looking at pictures of downed trees and strong currents on roads. were you able to talk to your friends closer to the eye of the storm or some areas hit harder in what were they telling you? i ve actually got a friend on the road heading through a town ....
Tully which is very close to codwell at the moment and a bit of destruction. tully was close to the eye and taken a few photos for me this afternoon showing roofs ripped off houses and there s some power poles that the power pole completely disappeared and the wires hanging there now. there s obviously a lot of trees over the roads. you know, a lot of debris around. basically, watch what you kind of expect with a high wind event. what s amazing is no one was injured. carl butcher, our local weather watcher who wasn t scared at all and braced himself and managed to get through that storm and give us an update of what it felt like there in queensland. brave man. as anti-government protests sweep across parts of the middle east we ask which countries stand to lose the most if change does ....
