Donations double cash grant awards for Kick Start Middlebury business recruitment program

With additional funding up to five businesses will receive $20,000 cash grants Vermont Business Magazine The Better Middlebury Partnership (BMP) announced today that as a result of generous donations from two community organizations, Kick Start Middlebury has doubled the size of the grants offered in its business recruitment effort, from $10,000 to $20,000 in start-up cash. Now with a total of $110,000 cash at its disposal, plus services donated by area businesses, the Kick Start Middlebury program is poised to change the town’s business and retail landscape.  The increase comes after a donation from Table 21, a non-profit founded by the Congregational Church of Middlebury (UCC).  After the church received a generous charitable gift earlier this year, Rev. Andy Nagy-Benson, senior pastor and president of Table 21, assembled a board of directors that issued $280,000 in grants to selected Middlebury restaurants and area farms.  Table 21 also provided $20,000 to fund a current pr

Vermont Business Magazine The Kick Start Middlebury program, created by a partnership of property owners and government, economic development, educational and business entities, is now accepting Letters of Interest to establish, relocate or expand a business in Middlebury. At least two applicants will receive an incentive package that includes free or discounted services and products donated by area businesses, a $10,000 grant made available by the Town of Middlebury’s business development fund, and various benefits offered by property owners.

Thu, 02/18/2021 - 11:44am meganj By:  Laura Asermily I wish I could vote for both Esther Thomas, who I helped recruit, and Andy Hooper, my good neighbor, on Middlebury selectboard for the one-year seat for which they are competing. I will have to choose. It is healthy to have such a robust choice. Esther brings a fresh, encouraging and open voice to our diversity efforts in this critical time of this focus. Andy brings local government experience serving on Montpelier’s selectboard and now on Middlebury committees, especially on our library board, working to sustain this essential town asset. You’ll need to decide on Middlebury’s priority for this year, knowing that the following year ushers in more opportunities to seek election to the selectboard.
