LaGrangeville man admits to shark trafficking


The arrest stems from a July 2017 investigation, after Seguine was allegedly found in possession of five dead sharks in the back of his truck in Georgia by the state Department of Natural Resources Investigator John Evans, according to a release.
Seguine was driving without a license. The sharks were found in a large circular tank. Officials say he admitted to transporting them to New York, with the intent to sell them.
Investigators found that Seguine was working under the business Aquatic Apex Life LLC and offered sharks for sale on June 29, 2017 on MonsterFishKeepers.com.
DEC law enforcement and marine biologists searched Seguine’s home and found the dead Sandbar sharks, as well as two dead Leopard sharks, one dead Hammerhead Shark and the snout of a Smalltooth Sawfish, which is an endangered species.  ....

Dutchess County man convicted of selling trafficked sharks out of above-ground pool


LAGRANGEVILLE, Dutchess County (WABC) The only water that runs through Dutchess County is the Hudson River, known for Northern Pike, Atlantic Sturgeon, even the odd whale but not sharks. So authorities became curious when they learned a Dutchess County man was selling sharks online.
It turned out Joshua Seguine had been keeping live sharks in a pool at his home and offering them for sale on the internet.
Seguine, 40, was convicted Wednesday in the Town of LaGrange Justice Court of illegal trafficking and ordered to pay a $5,000 fine.
The tide has turned for Joshua Seguine, who was convicted and held accountable for his unlawful acts, New York Attorney General Letitia James said. We will not tolerate anyone who preys on protected species to line their pockets. ....
