Scituate settles with DLT over prevailing wage issue

SCITUATE – Scituate will pay $7,500 in a settlement to the Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training for failing to ensure that prevailing wage was paid to several companies during the Scituate Police Station build. During a May 13 meeting, the Town Council unanimously decided in executive session to pay the settlement to the DLT, according to Town Council President Abbie Groves. The settlement comes after months of investigation from the DLT, beginning last May when the council first discussed the litigation. Companies Titan Construction and Robert Arita, doing business as Arita Construction, were investigated for not paying employees prevailing wage during the Scituate Police Station build.
