There was somebody down on the 44th floor. i know they were overwhelmed. stanley and i went back to the stairs all the way to the plaza level without seeing a soul, nobody. on the plaza level we stared in ah at the plaza where the fountain is normally flowing and people coming and going. we know nothing about hijacked airplanes, about the pentagon, none of this. we re ignorant of all these fact facts. we got down to the ground floor and only cops and firefighters and ems workers were there. debris was flowing down. looked like confetti in a ticker day parade. they were telling us to run, just go, run, run. they stayed back, sacrificing themselves so that brian and i could live. attention all units. by order of the city-wide tour commander all off-duty firefighters are recalled. all off-duty firefighters and ....
Talked so much about this because obviously this happened out of clinton correctional facility but let s not kid ourselves. obviously there have to be issues like this nationwide no? well yes and no. it all depends, you know. the superintendent sets the tone of the facility. okay. when i was a tour commander, i would address my troops at roll call and would tell them the midnight tour. that s when it s all happening. everybody says you think you come to work and put your feet up. it s not that kind of party. how do you incentivize the officers they don t want riots or escapes and if they don t want riots, a lot of the guys and gals are make nice with the inmates. that happens every now and then. correction officers are peace officers and in a position of public trust. they receive training from the bureau of municipal politician. they know what their function is. let s not kid ourselves. every now and then you know you get somebody you know that just steps out of line and tha ....
