民心相通，诗歌为媒。在辽宁营口，不知从什么途径，一名叫雷锋的解放军战士读到了这首诗，被深深吸引，他在日记中摘抄了这首诗。
1962年，雷锋因公殉职。1963年1月20日，《前进报》摘录发表32篇雷锋日记，这首诗被当成了雷锋的日记发表出来。雷锋共对诗进行了三处修改：原诗中的“母亲只能生我身”改成“母亲只生了我的身”；“党号召我们闹革命”改为“共产党号召我闹革命”；删除了诗中的最后四句。《前进报》刊登这首诗后，多家报纸也做了转载。
在毛主席“向雷锋同志学习”题词的号召下，举国掀起学雷锋高潮。雷锋日记里的这首诗引起上海歌舞剧院朱践耳的注意。雷锋的事迹深深地感动了这位曾加入新四军前线剧团、从苏联留学归来的音乐家。为了纪念雷锋，朱践耳决定把这首“雷锋遗诗”谱曲成歌，以便传唱。受这 ....

　　1958年初春的一个夜晚，陕西铜川矿务局焦坪煤矿25岁青年矿工姚筱舟在工房那如豆的煤油灯下，写下小诗《唱支山歌给党听》时，做梦都不曾想到，这首小诗日后会被谱为歌曲响彻神州，成为亿万劳苦大众抒发对党的情愫的心曲。

　　一封紧急的“寻人启事”：谁是蕉萍？
　　20世纪60年代初的一天，一封由上海实验歌剧院作曲家朱践耳写来的信被辗转送到时任焦坪煤矿党委书记赵炳耀的案头。信中说：“陕西文艺界有同志给我来信，并寄来1958年6月《陕西文艺》，因为他们发现《雷锋的歌》这首歌的歌词，同《陕西文艺》‘总路线诗传单’上那首署名蕉萍的诗几乎一样。而蕉萍是铜川矿务局的一名矿工。我收到信后，已迅速同《人民日报》和中央人民广播电台取得联系，把词作者更改为‘雷锋同志抄蕉萍原词’。 ....
