Police in Toronto said on Tuesday they are not treating the death of a prominent Pakistani activist as suspicious.
Police in Toronto termed the death of Baloch rights activist Karima Baloch, who went missing over the weekend before being found dead, as non-criminal.
Karima Baloch, 37, who hailed from Balochistan and was also known as Karima Mehrab, went missing on Sunday in Toronto’s downtown waterfront area. She was living in the Canadian city in exile for about five years. Police said her body was found on Monday. ....

A Pakistani human rights activist s death in Canada is being treated as a non-criminal death, Toronto police said Tuesday.
But Karima Baloch, 37, who went for a walk from her home Sunday and never returned â€“ her body was discovered Monday on Toronto s Centre Island â€“ is the second vocal critic of the Pakistani regime to be found dead this year.
Her husband Hammal Haider, also a critic of the Pakistani military and state, disputed the police finding of his wife s death.
I can t believe that it s an act of suicide, he said. She was a strong lady, and she left home in a good mood. We can t rule out foul play as she has been under threats. ....

Authorities said the body of 37-year-old Karima Mehrab was found near Toronto’s downtown waterfront on Monday, a day after she had been reported missing.
“It is currently being investigated as a non-criminal death and there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances,” Toronto police spokeswoman Caroline de Kloet said. ....
