Two injured in industrial incident at Spalding factory
Workers were upgrading the electrical substation
Two men were injured after an industrial incident at Bakkavor’s factory in Spalding.
Three contractors were carrying out remedial work on one of many electrical substations at the site on West Marsh Road.
The incident was reported to Lincolnshire Police at 11.54am on Tuesday, December 22 and two men suffered injuries which are not believe to be life threatening.
They were taken to hospital for medical assessment.
The incident will now be dealt with by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
A spokesperson for Bakkavor said: “We can confirm there has been an incident on the Spalding site involving three contractors who were carrying out remedial work on one of many electrical substations on site. ....

Work starts on new Lincolnshire Institute of Technology
It will be ready in April 2021
Work on a new Institute of Technology has started at Riseholme College north of Lincoln.
The centres are being built by Lindum Group at Bishop Burton’s campuses in Riseholme (Lincolnshire Showground) and Beverley (Yorkshire) as part of a £2.7 million investment from the college.
The Riseholme College building will get over £1 million in funding to develop new classrooms and dedicated workspaces at the Lincolnshire Institute of Technology.
The institute will focus on precision agriculture and agri-food and provide students with the skills needed to utilise technology in the industry. ....

Takeaway loses licence for breaching COVID-19 rules
Customers were found inside after curfew
Gainsborough Grill was found to be in breach of coronavirus regulations.
A Gainsborough takeaway has had its late night refreshment licence revoked for breaching coronavirus rules, including having customers sat inside after 10pm and face coverings not being worn.
Lincolnshire Police visited Gainsborough Grill, located at 168 Trinity Street, three times over a four week period.
As well as the 10pm curfew being broken and a male found stood eating in the store, the takeaway’s COVID-19 risk assessment had not been completed and the CCTV system was also found not to be working. ....

Lincolnshire COVID-19 “too volatile”, unlikely to come down a tier

Local health bosses said Lincolnshire’s coronavirus numbers are “still very volatile” and do not expect the county to go down a tier in the government’s announcement on Wednesday.
Tony McGinty, the assistant director of public health at Lincolnshire County Council, said the numbers at a district level were changing rapidly.
He warned against having tiers at a district level for fear it might cause confusion.

A cat had a stressful meow-ment when it became trapped between a wall and a garage, but the story had a purr-fect ending thanks to the help of Humberside Fire & Rescue.
Hand tools and a saw were used to remove bricks as access to the cat was made via the garage brick wall on Ferry Road in Scunthorpe shortly after 4pm on Monday, December 14.
The cat was taken to the fire station before being handed over to the RSPCA. ....
