CCP taking nominations for upcoming vacancy
By CCP - | Jul 28, 2021
The Captiva Community Panel is accepting nominations for one panel-appointed seat that will be vacant at the end of the year, and interested islanders are encouraged to submit their names.
It noted that it is also an opportunity to be considered for future appointments.
The panel’s Nominating Committee, which consists of Jeff Brown, Tony Lapi, Jim Piggott and Jon Rosen, will consider the nominations in developing a slate for recommendation to the panel.
Panel seats are for a three-year term, commencing in January. Members can serve two terms before being termed out, and they must be off at least a year before they can be considered for reappointment.

During its recent meeting, the Captiva Community Panel received updates on the iguana MSTU petitions and needed funds it has been seeking to proceed with two projects tied to its committees.
On April 13, Administrator Ken Gooderham told that panel that Treasurer Tony Lapi and Panel Member John Jensen recently manned an informational booth at the post office to educate property owners on the MSTU being proposed to pay for iguana control services and to gather petitions.
He thanked them, noting that their effort resulted in the return of a few more petitions.
