Have been urging this president to go a big in that jobs plan. you had richard trumka come out and say he wants the president to present a bold package. i ve spoken with white house officials who tell me this president does want to be aggressive in his jobs plan on thursday. he also has to be realistic. hawaii has to try to present something that will pass through the republican led house. that will be a challenge. we all saw what happened during that debt limit debate this summer. as you say, some really tough economic news both in michigan and nationally just this friday we learned that the economy added no net jobs during the month of august. that ton employment rate remains at 9 .1%. so this jobs speech on thursday will certainly be pivotal for this president and a lot of people will be listening to this speech today, veronica, to see if there s any clues about what we might hear on thursday. in the meantime we were talking about the unemployment rate remaining around 16 .1%. ....

This morning. i want to get to the number we have from the national center for education. their statistic on this 1.5 million new college grads for 2010-2011. what are the prospects for these kids that are coming out with diploma in hand? what s your opinion on the job market in the progress so far this year? well, if you re coming out of college, you re entering a tough job market with the unemployment rate of 9% overall. but remember you have an advantage with that sheep skin which is that ton employment rate for college-educated workers is about half the overall rate. if you go to the other end of the education spectrum, high school dropouts, the unemployment rate is twice that overall rate. so you have an advantage in that employers are typically seeking workers with higher skills. but it is a tough job market. no question about it. there s over 14 million unpromoted people. we want the unemployment rate to be in the 5% range, not the 9% ....
