Steve Stadelman, sponsors of this joint resolution, which the Illinois legislature voted unanimously to endorse. Illinois psychiatric physicians support the many recent initiatives by the Illinois General Assembly to reduce suicide, and treat mental illness and substance use disorders. A statewide organization of over 1,000 psychiatrists, the Illinois Psychiatric Society particularly appreciates efforts to bring mental health care to the most vulnerable and marginalized populations. Black and brown citizens, children and older adults, and teenagers all need special attention. ....
