The bitter fight in the Ondo State House of Assembly has taken another turn as the speaker, Bamidele Oleyeloogun, and three others are set to be arraigned for contempt of court.
The three others to be arraigned alongside the speaker are the clerk of the house, Bode Adeyele; the parliamentary secretary, Abayomi Akinruntan and the deputy-majority leader, Oladiji Adesanmi.
PREMIUM TIMES on Saturday exclusively obtained court papers filed at the Ondo State High Court against the speaker and others for their refusal to reinstate the four suspended lawmakers despite court orders. ....

Ondo assembly crisis deepens as 'impeached' deputy speaker sues others

In the new phase of the battle rocking the Ondo State House of Assembly, the deputy speaker of the house, Iroju Ogundeji, has dragged the speaker of the House, Bamidele Oleyelogun, and other members to the state high court over his purported impeachment.
Mr Ogundeji, in the suit seen by PREMIUM TIMES, wants the court to denounce the assembly’s action, and further affirm him as the deputy speaker.
This newspaper, on November 24, reported that amidst bitter politicking, the state assembly voted to impeach Mr Ogundeji for alleged “gross misconduct”.
The speaker of the House, Mr Oleyelogun, said 20 lawmakers signed the impeachment proceedings and that it required 18 to form two-thirds of the house. ....

The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr Bamidele Oloyeloogun and three members of the Assembly would be arraigned before the state High Court on December 17, 2020 for contempt of court.
They are to be arraigned over their alleged refusal to obey an order of the court to reinstate three suspended members of the House.
Those to be arraigned include the Speaker, the Clerk of the Assembly, Mr Bode Adeyelu, the Parliamentary Secretary- Mr Abayomi Akinruntan and the Deputy-Majority Leader, Mr Olamide Oladiji.
The assembly had suspended four lawmakers: Mr Iroju Ogundeji, Mr Adewale Williams, Mrs Favour Tomomewo and Tomide Akinribido over alleged gross misconduct. ....
