I’d never used the term “gayface” until recently, when it served as shorthand for James Corden’s cringeworthy comic performance in Netflix s The Prom. That film is painful in general, but Corden is the absolute chief of what’s bad about it. Playing a washed-up gay Broadway star called Barry Glickman, he attracted the lion’s share of scorn from reviewers.
